Royal Machines played a pair of classics in LA this week
Reuniting their supergroup Royal Machines, the rock pals performed to a Los Angeles crowd on Monday evening (December 17).
The band is made up of ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro, former Nine Inch Nails drummer Josh Freese, former-Cult bassist Billy Morrison, and Jane’s Addiction bassist Chris Chaney.
Playing at LA’s El Rey Theatre, Royal Machines offered up a version of the Pumpkins’ 1995 track ‘Bullet With Butterfly Wings’, along with Jane’s Addiction’s ‘Mountain Song’ from 1988.
Earlier this month, a bizarre collaboration between Smashing Pumpkins and Hanson occurred as the bands came together to cover Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Landslide’.
The alt-rock veterans were performing in Hanson’s native Tulsa, when they invited the brothers out to join them on the rendition from their ‘Pisces Iscariot’ LP.
As the reunited Pumpkins continue their tour in support of their acclaimed new record ‘Shiny And Oh So Bright Vol. 1‘, the band have also performed covers of ‘Friday I’m In Love’ by The Cure, as well as tracks by David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, and Joy Division.
