The free event, was held at Chicago’s Harold Washington Library Center for anyone with a high school ID in a bid to encourage youth involvement in the arts.
But while Chance’s attendance was already reason enough to attend, it got even better as Childish Gambino arrived to deliver an unannounced performance of ‘This is America’.
“My next guest needs no introduction,” Chance told the crowd.
“So let’s try it.”

The performance marks one of the first times that Gambino has performed the track, after its live debut on SNL in April.
Gambino, of course, is the performing alter-ego of actor Donald Glover.
Last month, Glover admitted that he was avoiding the internet after the reaction to the politically-charged video for ‘This Is America’.
