The first trailer for Apple Music’s Ed Sheeran documentary Songwriter has been released.
Sheeran released his latest album, ‘÷‘, in March 2017. It topped the charts in 25 countries upon release, including in the UK and the US.
In the trailer, the musician is seen in writing sessions for his song ‘Galway Girl’, as well as revisiting his old high school, headlining Glastonbury, and working in the studio. Clips from his childhood are also interspersed in the trailer. Watch it below.
In a press release, Sheeran said of the documentary, which was directed by his cousin Murray Cummings: “Songwriter gives viewers a unique glimpse into the songwriting process. Murray’s film brilliantly documents the hard work and DNA that goes into creating a song from start to finish.”
Cummings added: “I decided to make something different. I wasn’t going to show fame. I didn’t want paparazzi, screaming fans or big stadiums. I didn’t want to have sit-down interviews because I didn’t want to tell the audience how something came to be, I just wanted to show them. And I wanted the focus to be the songwriting.”
Meanwhile, Sheeran reportedly won planning permission to install “anti-homeless” railings outside his London home earlier this week. The musician previously denied it was an anti-homeless measure, but his planning agent stated in the proposal the cast iron railings would “prevent opportunities for rough sleeping.”
The star was also named the world’s highest-earning solo artist by Forbes, with his net worth being estimated at $110 million (£83m).
