The singer appeared in several comedy sketches throughout the show
Halsey served as both the guest host and the musical guest on Saturday Night Live last night (February 9) – scroll down to watch clips of her monologue and performances.
The singer began her appearance on the show by delivering the traditional host’s monologue. “It is so wild to be hosting SNL for the first time,” she said.
“When I was a kid I was absolutely obsessed with SNL. I watched it every week and I always especially admired the women on this show – they never cared what they looked like, what they sounded like, or what anybody thought of them. They were just funny.”
During the show, Halsey appeared in several comedy sketches, playing roles including an accident-prone mother, a woman of Congress, and a problematic politician. She also performed two tracks on the episode – recent single ‘Without Me’ and ‘Eastside’, her collaboration with Benny Blanco and Khalid.
‘Without Me’ was released in October 2018 and was followed by a remix featuring Chicago rapper Juice WRLD.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview, the star discussed her perceived rivalry with Ariana Grande. Halsey denied there was any animosity between the pair, saying her relationship with the ‘Thank U, Next’ singer and other female stars was nothing but “supportive”.
“I will say one thing about my generation of artists: we are just not fucking having it,” she said. “Lorde, Ariana… if you open any of our text messages at any given time, all of us are just like, ‘Yo, I love your new record. When are you leaving for tour?’ We’re so supportive.”
