IDLES have paid tribute to Her’s by covering the band’s track ‘Harvey’ – you can find the footage below.
The Bristol punk outfit were playing at this weekend’s 6 Music Festival in Liverpool, which also featured performances from the likes of Slowthai, John Grant, Little Simz, and Jon Hopkins.
Opening the city’s Olympia venue yesterday (March 30), the band covered ‘Harvey’ by Her’s during set-closer and ‘Joy As An Act Of Resistance‘ cut, ‘Rottweiler’. Guitarist Mark Bowen sang the track’s lyrics: “Harvey / Nobody knows what I see / Everyone thinks I’m crazy / Crazy for you, oh boy.“
You can catch IDLES’ full performance on iPlayer, with the ‘Harvey’ cover featuring at around the 40-minute mark. See the video for the original track below.
Her’s, comprised of Stephen Fitzpatrick and Audun Laading, died earlier this week after being involved in a car accident while touring in the US. “We are all heartbroken,” read a statement from the band’s label.
Heist Or Hit went on to say that Her’s’ “energy, vibrancy and talent came to define our label”, adding: “As humans, they were warm, gentle and hilarious. Each time they stopped by the office made for an uplifting experience. To say they were close would be an underestimation of a friendship that was genuinely beautiful to witness; they loved one another like brothers.”
Her’s released their debut album ‘Invitation To Her’s in 2018, which followed on from their 2017 compilation, ‘Songs Of Her’s’.
