Watch Post Malone try to get involved with World Cup fever at Wireless Festival

The musician wore England flag patches on his trousers during his set at the London festival

Post Malone told Wireless Festival yesterday (July 6) that “football’s coming back.”

The star appeared at the first day of the 2018 edition of the London festival, performing alongside the likes of J Cole, PartyNextDoor, Wiley, Mabel, and more.

During his set, Malone took a pause to address the audience. “You guys are fucking awesome,” he said. “You guys are lit as fuck right now! Football’s coming back!” The crowd then chanted the correct lyrics of “football’s coming home” back at the rapper as he punched the air and drank a beer. Watch fan-shot footage of the moment below.

Fans at Wireless also took a moment to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Malone, who wore England flag patches on his trousers, after he revealed he had turned 23 two days earlier.

Earlier this year, the musician released his debut album ‘Beerbongs & Bentleys‘. In a two-star review, NME described it as “directionless”, arguing that it made “the rockstar lifestyle sound beige.”

Despite that, Malone went on to break The Beatles‘ US chart record for the most songs simultaneously in the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Fab Four and rapper J Cole previously achieved six, but the star bested them with a total of nine.

Wireless Festival is headlined by Stormzy tonight (July 7), while DJ Khaled, Giggs, Rae Sremmurd and more will appear tomorrow.
