Watch Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith take over on drums for Foo Fighters

Epic.

Video footage has captured the moment that Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith took over from Taylor Hawkins during a recent Foo Fighters show.

The Foos played the  Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York on Saturday night – with Hawkins taking over vocals from Dave Grohl during a cover of The Faces ‘Stay With Me’.

But with Hawkins’ drum-set sitting empty, it was up to Smith to fill the gap for the performance.

Footage posted on social media shows Smith bringing his legendary powerhouse drumming to the cover, while Hawkins is left to take centre stage.

The group previously performed the cover with Smith during a show in 2015.

Meanwhile, Dave Grohl recently opened up about his singing voice in an interview when asked if he was insecure about his singing voice when he first made the transition from drummer to frontman.
