Robyn has covered Wham!’s festive banger ‘Last Christmas’, performing a stripped-back rendition in Radio 1’s Live Lounge.
The Swedish pop star unveiled her new album ‘Honey‘ in October, marking her first full-length release in eight years. Discussing the mood of the record prior to its release, she said that the album feels like it comes from a “sweet place, like a very soft ecstasy.”
Ahead of returning to the stage with two huge London shows next year, Robyn visited Radio 1’s Live Lounge earlier today (November 4). The singer performed a reworked version of her single ‘Honey’ before tackling Wham!’s ’80s classic.
Stepping away from her usual electronic sound, Robyn relied on piano and an understated drum beat – resulting in a warm, fuzzy slice of festive nostalgia. During the session, the ‘Dancing On My Own’ star hailed the late George Michael as her “hero”.
Robyn’s cover of ‘Last Christmas’ follows Pale Waves’ darkened, on-brand version of the song – released last month as part of their Spotify Singles session.
Meanwhile, Robyn’s European tour kicks off in Norway on February 5. The stint will resume in April, concluding with two nights at London’s Alexandra Palace. Find any remaining tickets here and see the full schedule below.
