The Warren Fu-directed clip includes a shot of Matty Healy pouring water from a watering can onto a face-painted child reflecting the frontman’s own appearance in the video for ‘A Change Of Heart’. A sign behind them reads, “La poesie est dans la rue” – a phrase which has cropped up several times in the band’s past, including in the track ‘Love It If We Made It’.
The track features on their upcoming third record, ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’, which is due to be released next week (November 30). In a five-star review, NME said of the record: “This is a piece of art that shows another side to a generation, one of achievement, wit and humanity in the most confusing of times. Clever boys.”
Earlier today (November 21), the band were confirmed as one of the headliners for next year’s Reading & Leeds festivals – marking their first time topping the bill at the twin events. They will join Foo Fighters, Post Malone, and Twenty One Pilots next summer.
Speaking to NME, Healy said he “needed” to headline the festivals because the band attended them “as fans when we were kids.” “Every time I [play] it, it’s like I might as well have just been there in the pit, jumped over the barrier and grabbed the mic,” he said. “That’s how I feel at that festival. It’s sick. We went to Leeds like 10 times when we were kids.”
Meanwhile, The 1975 will head out on an arena tour of the UK in January. Remaining tickets are available to purchase here.
