WESTLIFE braved mud and rain to win the SOCCER SIX celebrity football tournament in London this afternoon.
The charity event drew an audience of thousands at Chelsea FC’s Stamford Bridge stadium to watch the star-studded kickabout.
Westlife’s Nicky Byrne and Bryan McFadden lead a team which had to beat a galaxy of other names from stage, screen, music and football in a round-robin type knock-out before finally emerging as the victors.
Popstars on the pitch included Mis-Teeq, Toploader, Rod Stewart, Damon Albarn, Dane Bowers, Blue, Hear’say’s Suzanne Shaw and Myleene Klass.
Others donning shorts included Oxide & Neutrino, Sex Pistols Paul Cook and Steve Jones, former Five stars Richie Neville and Abs Mark Owen, former All Saint Shaznay Lewis, former Boyzone star Keith Duffy and former Steps bloke Lee Latchford Evans.
Other celebrities at the annual event included DJ Spoony, Ralf Little and girlfriend TV presenter Lisa Rogers, Jonathan Ross, Vinnie Jones, Ray Winstone, EastEnders star Michael Greco, Robbie Williams’ flatmate and erstwhile popstar Jonathan Wilkes former Atomic Kitten Kerry Katona, last year’s tournament winners Ant&Dec.
Lending some professional skills to the event were footballers Dennis Wise, Ian Rush and Peter Beardsley.
