SMASHING!

Not content with winning the Britannia Record Of The Year, the group scoop six awards at the Smash Hits Poll Winners' Party...

WESTLIFE walked away with six gongs at the SMASH HITS POLL WINNERS PARTY yesterday (December 10), just a day after winning the BRITANNIA RECORD OF THE YEAR awards for their single ‘MY LOVE’.

At the Smash Hits show, voted for by readers of the pop magazine, the single also scooped Best Single Of 2000 and the band also walked off with Best Band On The Planet, Best Non British Band plus Best Album of 2000 with ‘Coast To Coast’.

Band member Shane Filan won Most Fancied Male and Kian Egan won Best Haircut.

To make the night an Irish triumph, Westlife’s former manager Ronan Keating, lead singer with Boyzone and now a solo star in his own right, won Best Male Solo Star and Best Dressed Person. However, he was curiously voted Worst Dressed Person too!

Other winners at the event, which was held at London Docklands Arena, included Five, who won Best British Band, and Craig David who won Best Male Solo Star.
