WILCO LIKE TO SCORE

The rockers lend some tunes to the art-house flick 'Chelsea Walls'...

WILCO’s JEFF TWEEDY, BILLY BRAGG and actor ROBERT SEAN LEONARD all appear on the soundtrack to ETHAN HAWKE’s directorial debut, an art-house flick called ‘CHELSEA WALLS’.

Tweedy and his Wilco bandmate Glenn Kotche have written the score for the movie, with the others appearing as guests. The soundtrack will be released on May 20 in the UK.

The film follows the lives of a group of artists who live in New York’s infamous Chelsea Hotel.

“The music is a huge part of this film,” said Hawke. “The film’s protagonist is a building. Music was the best/only option for giving the building a voice. So, in that way, Jeff Tweedy is the lead of the movie. His music unites the film and gives the character a shape and a body.”

As well as playing on the soundtrack, Robert Sean Leonard – a friend of Hawke’s since they met on the set of ‘Dead Poet’s Society’ – appears in the film. He stars alongside a maverick cast including Kris Kristofferson, Uma Thurman, Tuesday Weld and Rosario Dawson.

The film should be released in the UK this summer.
