Wild Beasts: ‘We forgot our own songs onstage’ – video

'Smother' crooners open up about their worst ever gig

Wild Beasts have revealed that they once forgot their own songs onstage, during a gig in Brussels.

Speaking to NME backstage at Glastonbury in a video which you can see at the top of your screen, the Cumbria quartet said they think they’ve made up with the Belgian capital through subsequent, rather more impressive shows.

Asked what the worst gig they’ve played was, bassist Tom Fleming replied by saying: “We played a gig in Brussels once and we’ve played a couple of times since to make up the debt we had. We forgot our own songs basically. We forgot what key they were in. Everything went wrong.”

The band, who released their third album ‘Smother’ earlier this year, announced their largest UK tour to date last month along with a headline appearance at Constellations Festival in Leeds in November.

They are also booked to play festival slots at Field Day and End Of The Road Festival across the summer.
