Wiley London gig cancelled following shooting outside venue

Grime MC has rescheduled gig at The Garage following unrelated incident

Wiley‘s gig at The Garage in north London tonight has been cancelled following an unrelated incident outside the venue last night.

The grime MC was due to play the venue on December 16, but promoters have postponed the gig until the new year after a 25-year-old man was admitted to hospital with a gunshot wound last night.

A police spokesperson confirmed to NME that at 23:41 last night (December 15) officers were called to a disturbance at the venue, located in Highbury, north London. An initial investigation has revealed that a man made his own way to a north London hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. The injured male is currently in hospital in a stable condition. His injuries are not life threatening.

No arrests have been made, although Trident officers are investigating together with colleagues from Islington Police.

A spokesperson for promoters SJM Concerts issued the following statement: “Following an incident which took place outside The Garage in London last night, the main venue is unable to open this evening. It is with regret that the venue has no option other than to cancel tonight’s Wiley show, which is a decision in no way related to Wiley, his management team nor his support acts. The Snakes and Ladders Tour shall be moved to early 2015, new dates to be announced soon. Tickets for this show will be valid for the new dates of the tour, or customers can contact point of purchase for ticket refunds.”

Wiley was due to play live in support of his latest album ‘Snakes And Ladders’, released earlier this year.
