Jay Z, Kanye West, Justin Timberlake and Dizzee Rascal all receive nods too
Wiley and Laura Mvula are the leading contenders for this year’s MOBO Awards after receiving four nominations apiece.
Meanwhile, Disclosure will compete for three prizes and both Jessie Ware and Lianne La Havas are up for two trophies at the annual awards bash, which has been recognising “Music of Black Origin” since 1996.
Wiley’s ‘Ascent’ will compete against Mvula’s ‘Sing To The Moon’ and Disclosure’s ‘Settle’ for the Best Album award, with Rudimental’s ‘Home’ and Angel’s ‘About Time’ also in the running for the prestigious prize.
Other British nominees for this year’s gongs include Tinie Tempah, Dizzee Rascal, AlunaGeorge and Rizzle Kicks. Meanwhile, the Best International Act category will see Kanye West compete against Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Kendrick Lamar and Iggy Azalea, among others.
This year’s ceremony will take place at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro on October 19. Last year’s MOBO Awards saw Emeli Sandé collect a hat-trick of awards and Plan B, Nicki Minaj and Labrinth take home trophies too.
