The MC revealed that he’s planning to release a new record later this year
Wiley has announced a new album, titled ‘Godfather’.
The grime pioneer broke the news on Twitter this morning (March 17), revealing that he plans to release his eleventh studio album on September 2.
The Bow MC said that record will include 16 tracks and be proceeded by three singles.
He added: “I got good features and producers on this album too. Ones that make total sense.”
Stormzy responded to the announcement by tweeting “the legend returns”, prompting Wiley to thank him for “putting in the work”.
Asked by one fan whether the upcoming album would be grime, Wiley joked: “Na it’s a country and western one”.
Wiley’s last album, ‘Snakes & Ladders’, was released in 2014. Last year, the MC put out eight singles in as many weeks which were later compiled on an EP, titled ‘#8’.
Recently, he has appeared on Rinse FM together with veteran grime DJ Slimzee.
In a candid interview earlier this year, Wiley named Dizzee Rascal’s ‘Boy In Da Corner’ and Kano’s ‘Home Sweet Home’ as grime’s two greatest albums. He also revealed that he is working on a book and movie.
