Above Average commented, "our global nightmare is over: Will Smith is back"

A comedy mash-up of Will Smith‘s greatest hits played simultaneously has emerged online, from the makers of Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show and Portlandia.

Above Average, “the internet’s last hope for comedy”, uploaded the mix, simply entitled ‘Greatest Hits’, after Will Smith made a return to music on Friday (October 2).

Smith’s first musical appearance in ten years was a collaboration with Bomba Estéreo called ‘Fiesta’. Until then his most recent musical work had been 2005 album ‘Lost And Found’.

Above Average commented, “Our global nightmare is over: ten years after ‘Switch’, Will ‘The Fresh Prince’ Smith is back with a funky new song! As dirty birds the world over shake their tail feathers to the strains of Big Willie Style’s latest, let’s take a listen back to the rap man’s most classic songs, all played at once to save time.”

Listen to the disorienting mix below:

Smith’s appearance on ‘Fiesta’ by Columbian band Bomba Estéreo was a remix and saw Smith rapping in English and Spanish.

“When I was told that Will Smith wanted to collaborate on a remix with Bomba, I couldn’t believe it,” Bomba Estéreo member Simon Mejia said in a statement. “This opportunity to work with Will was beyond anything we have dreamed of… It’s just magic.”

During Jaden’s first episode, the younger Smith spoke to his dad about upcoming plans, which includes getting back into music. “I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet but I’m exploring. I’m in a creative ceiling,” he said.

He continued: “I can’t write and stop, I have to keep going and going and write them out,” before hinting at an upcoming collaboration with the Toronto star.

Smith has previously stated that he’s recorded “seven or eight” songs with Kanye West. Smith was rumoured to be working with West after they had been photographed together in a studio in Brazil during 2013. Smith then went on record as saying that he had been “messing around with Kanye”.

He later added: “You know I’ve recorded a lot. I’ve recorded a lot. I don’t have anything I like yet, but I’ve probably recorded seven or eight [songs]. It’s not for certain, it’s just explorative.”
