POP IDOL winner WILL YOUNG has scored a second week at Number One tonight (Sunday, March 10) with ‘Anything Is Possible/Evergreen’.
The singer’s debut single became the fastest selling single ever last week, with sales of over one million copies. Will’s second week at Number One also coincides with his decision to reveal to today’s News Of The World that he is gay.
Also in this week’s Top Ten, Shakira remains at Number Two with ‘Whenever Wherever’, Enrique Iglesias is a non-mover at Number Three with ‘Hero’ and Nickelback move up to Number Four with ‘How You Remind Me’. ‘Something’ by Lasgo drops one place to Number Five.
Will’s fellow Pop Idol contestant Rik Waller gets his first hit single this week. His version of ‘I Will Always Love You’ entered the charts at Number Six. Other new entries this week include ‘Oi’ by Platinum 45 Ft More Fire Crew at Number Eight, ‘Caramel’ by City High Ft Eve at Number Nine and ‘Break Ya Neck’ by Busta Rhymes at Number 11. ‘Close Cover’ by Minimalistix is a new entry at Number 12 and Creed are also new at 18 with ‘My Sacrifice’.
Meanwhile, Brit-rockers Hundred Reasons enjoy their first Top 20 hit. They enter today’s chart at 19 with ‘If I Could’. Outside the Top 20, Electric Soft Parade are new at 23 with ‘Silent To The Dark II’, Smoke 2 Seven enter at 26 with ‘Been There Done That’, Gomez’ comeback single ‘Shot Shot’ is new at 28, and Alcazar’s ‘Sexual Guarantee’ enters the chart at Number 30. The Dandy Warhols’ ‘Get Off’ is new at 34, and Cornershop return with ‘Lessons Learned From Rocky I To Rocky III’ new at 37.
Meanwhile, in the new albums chart, Alanis Morissette’s ‘Under Rug Swept’ enters at Number Two. The top spot was claimed by Barbra Streisand’s ‘The Essential’. Elsewhere on the chart, A entered at 18 with ‘Hi-Fi Serious’.
