Willow Smith samples Radiohead on new song – listen

Hear teen star sings over 'Codex'

Youthful US singer Willow Smith has sampled Radiohead on her new single.

Radiohead’s influence on Willow, the daughter of Hollywood actor Will Smith, will come as a surprise to fans of the band. ‘Sugar and Spice’, Willow’s latest track, samples ‘Codex’ from Radiohead’s 2011 album ‘The King Of Limbs’. Scroll down the page to hear the track now.

Famed for her viral hit ‘Whip My Hair’, Smith is in a more reflective place on ‘Sugar And Spice’, which features the lyrics: “Inject my soul with darkness. I tried to be sugar and spice, but I’m melancholy and can’t do anything right. Take a swing at me, I’ll fight to the death, my light is bright“.

Since releasing ‘Whip My Hair’, Smith has put out a slew of other singles including ’21st Century Girl’ and ‘I Am Me’, and also collaborated with rapper Nicki Minaj on the track ‘Fireball’. Late last year she covered Adele’s Bond theme ‘Skyfall’.

Willow Smith is due to release her debut album ‘Knees And Elbows’ later this year. Meanwhile, Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke is gearing up to release the first album from his new band Atoms For Peace, a collaboration with Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ Flea, in February.
