Willow Smith to release debut album next April

Will Smith's daughter will drop 'Willow' in 2012

Willow Smith has announced that she will release her debut album in April 2012.

The 11-year-old singer, who is the daughter of Hollywood actor Will Smith, told the US radio station 106 & Park that her ‘Willow’ LP will hit stores on April 3 next year.

The album is set to feature her hit single ‘Whip My Hair’, which scored her a Number Two hit in the Official Singles Chart in March this year, as well as its follow-up track ’21st Century Girl’ and her collaboration with Nicki Minaj, ‘Fireball’.

Willow Smith signed to Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation label in 2010. A spokesperson for the label said: “She has an energy and enthusiasm about her music that is truly infectious. It’s rare to find an artist with such innate talent and creativity at such a young age.”

In January of this year, it was revealed that Jay-Z wanted to remake the film Annie with Willow Smith set to take on the lead role.

In August, meanwhile, it was reported that Will Smith was also contemplating a return to music. He released his last studio album, ‘Lost And Found’, in 2005.
