Twenty-Six teenagers were treated at Nassau University Medical Centre for alcohol-related illness.
Twenty-six teenagers were taken to hospital with alcohol poisoning before a Wiz Khalifa gig in New York.
The teenagers, ranging in age between 14 and 18, were carted off to the Nassau University Medical Centre to be treated for alcohol-related illnesses before the rapper’s aptly named ‘Under the Influence of Music’ show at Jones Beach on Thursday (August 2).
According to NBC, a hospital spokeswoman said none of the children were admitted to the hospital for further treatment and all were released to their parents after seeing a doctor.
No alcohol was served at the venue, but police claim that some gig goers had been found drinking beer and hard liquor in the car park while they were waiting for the concert to begin.
Police Sgt. Manny Miller, of State Parks police told Newsday: “There’s so much drinking going on…it’s out of control.” According to the hospital spokeswoman, the medical centre had to treat the kids who were all “in various stages of intoxication”.
The ‘Under the Influence of Music’ concert also saw performances by hip-hop stars Mac Miller, Chiddy Bang and Kendrick Lamar.
