The two bands, who have toured together in the past, have fallen out after Fat White Family described Wolf Alice’s music as “drivel for angry nine-year-olds” in a recent Time Out interview. They also labeled them “irresponsible” for not speaking out politically.
In a new interview with Time Out, Wolf Alice have hit back at the criticism with lead singer Ellie Rowsell saying: “There’s an element of truth in what they’re saying. But I don’t think they should call out other bands, you know? It’s a bit presumptious and a bit mean. We’re learning and adjusting all the time. And also I listened to their album and I couldn’t hear a word he was saying.”
Bassist Theo Ellis was more blunt, stating simply: “Also, fuck off.”
Joel Amey landed somewhere between the two when he said: “Honestly, if the biggest problem you’ve got in life is Wolf Alice and fucking indie music then you’ve got it fine.”
Wolf Alice are currently on the road in the UK on a tour which will conclude with four nights at London’s O2 Forum.
Brighton, The Dome (March 22)
Nottingham, Rock City (March 23)
Cardiff, The Great Hall (March 24)
London, The Forum (March 26-29)
Fat White Family released their latest album ‘Songs For Our Mothers’ in January.
