Wu Lyf and Future Islands play Islington Mill reopening party in Salford

Manchester arts venue has been revamped

Wu Lyf and Future Islands played the reopening of Salford‘s Islington Mill last night (October 1).

The venue, which includes gallery rooms as well as a performance and bar area, has been revamped and redesigned for the launch.

With a sizable crowd in attendance, Wu Lyf took to the stage ahead of Future Islands and played tracks including ‘Heavy Pop’ and ‘Spitting It Concrete Like The Golden Sun God’.

Playing their first gig since July, the four-piece were in chatty mood throughout, and at one point jammed while singer Ellery Roberts introduced each member to the audience.

Future Islands put in a similarly relaxed performance, though frontman Samuel T Herring spent much of the gig in the audience singing amongst the crowd.

The Baltimore act played tracks from across their career, kicking off their 11-song set with ‘On The Water’.

Future Islands played:

‘On The Water’
‘Inch Of Dust’
‘An Apology’
‘Tin Man’
‘Long Flight’
‘Walking Through That Door’
‘Heart Grows Old’
‘The Inkwell’
‘In The Fall’
‘Vireo’s Eye’
