XXXTentacion revealed as the “surprise guest” on the ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ soundtrack

The soundtrack is officially released tomorrow

XXXTentacion has been revealed as the “surprise guest” on the new Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack, released tomorrow.

The new animated Marvel movie is soundtracked by the likes of Vince Staples, Nicki Minaj and more. The OST also features a song by Lil Wayne and Ty Dolla $ign titled ‘Afraid of the Dark’. The original track listing for the album noted that the song featured a “special guest”.

Lil Wayne also posted a clip of the song on Instagram, captioning it: “My song ‘Scared Of The Dark’ with @tydollasign (and a surprise special guest!) is on the Spider-Man: Into The @SpiderVerseMovie Soundtrack.”

It’s now been revealed that XXXTentacion is the previously un-named artist. A source told Pitchfork, “It was meant to be a surprise that he was on the record and soundtrack.” Lil Wayne’s team declined to comment.

The late rapper, real name Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, died in June after he was shot dead as he left a Miami motorcycle dealership. Officials claim that his car was being locked by another vehicle when two masked gunmen approached his car, before shooting him and fleeing with a Louis Vuitton bag filled with $50,000.

He had a history of domestic abuse charges – including the aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and false imprisonment because of a series of alleged attacks on his ex-girlfriend.

The animated film will be released tomorrow (December 14) and will see Nicholas Cage play Spider-Man.

The film stars Shameik Moore – who previously appeared in Netflix’s The Get Down – as Miles Morales. Morales is a teenager from Brooklyn who realises he has the same powers as Spider-Man.
