New York trio on course for their third consecutive Top 10 album

Yeah Yeah Yeahs are heading for a Top 10 entry in this week’s Official Albums Chart with their new album ‘Mosquito’.

Reports from the Official Chart Company indicate that the album is at Number 6 in the midweek update and behind albums from Justin Timberlake, Pink and Emeli Sande as well as Fall Out Boy’s new record ‘Save Rock & Roll’. Michael Buble is currently at the top of the UK Album Chart with his new album ‘To Be Loved’.

Meanwhile, US singer/songwriter Steve Earle has the highest entry outside the top ten with his album, ‘The Low Highway’ at Number 13. Elsewhere in the album charts there are new entries for Angel, Kid Cudi, Major Lazer and Iron & Wine respectively.

The UK’s current Number 1, ‘100%’ by Duke Dumont and A*M*E, is also set to be replaced, with Rudimental and Will.i.am battling it out to replace them at the top. The Hackney-based dance act’s single ‘Waiting All Night’ is currently ahead of the Justin Bieber featuring ‘That Power’

Elsewhere, YouTube star Psy is in the Top 10 with his ‘Gangnam Style’ follow-up ‘Gentleman’ and, fresh off the back of an unlikely Coachella appearance with Phoenix, R Kelly’s ‘Ignition (Remix)’ is at 39.

The Official Chart will be revealed this Sunday (April 21) on Radio 1.
