Yeah Yeah Yeahs played to the local crowd at T In The Park today (July 10) by bringing on a bagpipe band during their NME / Radio One set.

As the New York trio reached the climax of ‘Skeletons’ from recent album ‘It’s Blitz!’, they were joined onstage by the East Kilbride Pipe Band, to huge cheers from the crowd.

Taking to the stage in a Native American-style cape and feathered headdress, singer Karen O stripped to a slinky studded leather dress with feathered cuffs and ribbon-covered boots, asking the crowd: “I don’t know if it’s as pretty insane looking this way as it is looking that way. Probably not.”

During a thrashy ‘Black Tongue’, O, her microphone decorated with a drawing of the late Michael Jackson, paused to let the crowd sing back the lyric “Yeah yeah yeah”, drummer Brian Chase grinning widely, while during ‘Zero’ a giant eyeball balloon was released into the crowd.

A subtle, acoustic version of ‘Maps’ was opened by O starting up a chant of “Yeah Yeah Yeahs! T In The Park!”, enthusiastically picked up by the fans.

They closed with a ferocious take on ‘Date With The Night’, punctuated by red glitter bombs, O setting the final one off with her backside before falling onto the floor in giggles.
