The wife of the ex-Beatle wants to help reduce the amount of deaths from firearms in the US...

Just days before Friday’s (December 8) 20th anniversary of the murder of JOHN LENNON, his widow YOKO ONO has launched a poster campaign to reduce gun deaths in the US.

The poster features a poignant photograph, taken by Yoko, of the bloodied spectacles the late Beatle was wearing when crazed fan Mark Chapman gunned him down outside his New York apartment building home. It also carries the line:

“Over 676,000 people have been killed by guns in the USA since John Lennon was shot and killed on December 8, 1980.”

Yoko Ono yesterday (December 5) released a statement saying: “It is ten times more than the number of US soldiers lost in the Vietnam War. This year is the 20th anniversary of John’s murder. It is time to remember how he died.”
