You Me At Six go GaGa at Download

The band treat the crowd to their cover of 'Poker Face'

You Me At Six were the second band of the weekend to play a cover of Lady Gaga‘s Number One single ‘Poker Face’ this afternoon at Download (June 13).

The Surrey band’s take on the song followed Faith No More’s brief rendition of the same hit on the Main Stage yesterday (June 12). The cover version was announced as originally being “by a lady who chats a lot of shit”.

Wearing a white T-shirt with ‘Express Yourself’ written on it and cut-off jeans, frontman Josh Franceschi told the crowd at the Second Stage: “I know that Pendulum are playing right now, so keep with us, it’s going to be fun.”

Using a white microphone, Franceschi asked the crowd: “Who here likes to jump up and down on the same spot? Raise your hand if you like that shit,” before singing ‘The Truth Is A Terrible Thing’.

He later dedicated the song ‘If I Were In Your Shoes’ to the band’s friends in The Blackout and Architects, both of whom are playing the festival later tonight.

The buoyant Franceschi also name-checked Rage Against The Machine, asking the crowd to sing along to the “Fuck you, I won’t do what you tell me” line from the Los Angeles group’s classic ‘Killing In The Name’.

You Me At Six played:

‘Jealous Minds Think Alike’
‘If You Run’
‘Finders Keepers’
‘The Truth Is A Terrible Thing’
‘You’ve Made Your Bed’
‘Poker Face’
‘If I Were In Your Shoes’
‘Save It For The Bedroom’
‘The Rumour’
