Zayn Malik made his first live TV performance since going solo last night. See him debut new song ‘It’s You’ on The Tonight Show now.
The track will feature on Malik’s solo album ‘Mind Of Mine’ and is the second song fans have heard from Malik follwing Number One debut ‘Pillowtalk’. The track recently claimed the fastest selling single of 2016 with ‘Pillowtalk’ after racking up combined sales of 112,000 in its first week of release.
‘Pillowtak’ also charted higher than any other song One Direction ever released in the US. The closest One Direction came to scoring a chart-topping Billboard Hot 100 single was with ‘Best Song Ever’, which reached Number Two in 2013.
In addition to the performance on Fallon’s show, Malik has also shared the artwork to his album ‘Mind Of Mine’. The Lil Wayne-esque image shows a young Malik with his adult tattoos.
Malik’s debut solo album ‘Mind Of Mine’ will be released in the spring.
In a recent Sunday Times profile, Malik discussed the explicit tone of ‘Pillowtalk’.
“I think I’m pretty black and white about what it’s about. Everybody has sex, and it’s something people wanna hear about. It’s part of everybody’s life, a very big part of life! And you don’t wanna sweep it under the carpet. It has to be talked about,” he said.
Malik also admitted that he had wanted to leave One Direction for some time. “I think I always kind of wanted to go. From like the first year really, I never really wanted to be there in the band. I just gave it a go because it was there at the time,” he said.
