Malik announced details of his debut album last week.
The former One Direction member revealed the title of his forthcoming album is ‘Mind of Mine’ in an interview with Zane Lowe for Beats 1. Malik said he wrote “46, 47 songs” for the album and that 17 or 18 of those will make the final cut.
Malik also revealed that he has collaborated with R&B singer Kehlani on one of the album’s tracks. He said “She’s sick,” adding “I love her.”
“I’m feeling excited, I’m feeling nervous, I’m feeling happy – I’ve finally got to do what I wanted to do… It’s kind of just like waiting for Christmas,” Malik told Lowe.
Malik also commented that he’s already ‘bored’ of being ‘normal’, telling Capital FM “[Being normal] worked out for about two weeks and I got bored of it”.
“I don’t think I could ever go back to being completely normal. I guess that’s something I accepted, that this is as normal as it gets for me.”
The solo career comes after Malik’s decision to quit One Direction in March 2015, stating that he wanted to be “a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.”
