Zayn Malik cancels another concert due to ‘extreme anxiety’

Singer had been expected to play a gig in Dubai during October

It has been announced that Zayn Malik has cancelled another live show over anxiety issues.

In June, the former One Direction boy band member cancelled an appearance at Capital FM’s Summertime Ball at London’s Wembley Stadium, citing “the worst anxiety of my career” as his reason.

Now concert promoters 117 Live have issued a statement, confirming how Malik’s planned Dubai gig will no longer take place in October.

A message from Malik, posted online by the promoters, reads: “I have been working over the last three months to overcome my extreme anxiety around major live solo performances,” he said.

“I feel I am making progress but I have today acknowledged that I do not feel sufficiently confident to move forward with the planned show in Dubai in October.”

Malik was due to headline Dubai’s Autism Rocks Arena on October 7.

Since leaving One Direction last year, Zayn has become a star in his own right. When he released his first single, ‘Pillowtalk’, in February, it was the fastest-selling single of 2016 (at that point), racking up combined sales of 112,000 copies in its first week.

Then when Zayn put out his debut album, ‘Mind Of Mine’, on March 25, the record became the first ever album by a solo British male artist to debut at number one in the USA.

Malik has also appeared on MIA’s new single ‘Freedun’.
