First track from former One Direction member's new solo album
Zayn Malik is on course to top the Official Singles Chart with debut solo single ‘Pillowtalk’.
Official Chart Company data revealed yesterday (February 1) shows that at the halfway stage of the chart week, ‘Pillowtalk’ is 23,000 combined sales ahead of its closest competitor, Jonas Blue’s ‘Fast Car’.
‘Pillowtalk’ is the first music we’ve heard from the former boy band member since he left the group in March 2015. The video for the song features Malik’s rumoured girlfriend and model Gigi Hadid. Watch in full below.
Malik’s debut solo album ‘Mind Of Mine’ will be released in the spring.
Meanwhile, Craig David could secure his first Top 10 in eight years with Big Narstie collaboration ‘When The Bassline Drops’ climbing from 14 to 9 on today’s chart update. Sia’s 2014 single ‘Chandelier’, meanwhile, climbs 58 places to 25 following the release of her new album ‘This Is Acting’ and new Drake single ‘Summer Sixteen’ debuts at 31.
‘Chandelier’ does not feature on ‘This Is Acting’ but Sia’s new album is Number One in the midweek update. The album, a collection of songs written by the Australian and rejected by stars including Rihanna and Adele, currently boasts has a lead of 4,000 combined sales. If this remains the same until Friday, David Bowie‘s four week reign at Number One will come to an end.
This looks likely regardless, with his final album ‘Blackstar’ currently Number Five behind Rihanna’s ‘Anti’ (4), new Charlie Puth album ‘Nine Track Mind’ (3) and Bowie hits collection ‘Best Of Bowie’ (2).
The full Official Chart rundown will be revealed on Friday afternoon (February 5)
