The National have celebrated Thanksgiving by covering ‘Give it to Teddy’, a song from FOX cartoon Bob’s Burgers.

The Ohio-formed band have a long-running history with the show. In 2016, frontman Matt Berninger sang Bob’s part for a musical number called ‘Bad Stuff Happens in the Bathroom’ in the episode Glued, Where’s My Bob?
They’ve also appeared in the show’s animated music videos, although they’ve yet to appear in a specific episode. In 2015, they were due to cover ‘Thanksgiving for Everybody (Except for Europeans)’, but the release was later cancelled due to the tragic Paris attacks.
The National released latest album ‘Sleep Well Beast’ earlier this year, and it features in NME’s top 50 Albums of the Year. See the full list here.
Earlier this month, they recorded a cover of Cat Power song ‘Maybe Not’. They’ve also been announced as headlining Lisbon, Portugal’s NOS Alive festival, and they are set to headline a huge London show as part of new 10-day festival All Points East.
Berninger recently revealed to NME that they already have a new album’s worth of material written. With the band currently talking about taking a mobile studio with them on the road to work on new tracks, he added that it certainly wouldn’t be another four year wait between albums like it was since 2013’s ‘Trouble Will Find Me‘.
“It will definitely be less than four years,” Berninger told NME. “I don’t know if it will come in the form of a National record, but we’ve been doing a tonne of music together for stuff that might be for other things. There’s no plan to do a ‘Kid A’ and ‘Amnesiac’ kind of two album deal.”
