Nicolas Cage drops out of filming for ‘Trespass’

Actor had been set to appear in Joel Schumacher film

Nicolas Cage has dropped out filming for forthcoming movie Trespass, shooting for which had been set to begin later this month.

The actor, currently in cinemas in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, was set to start filming the movie opposite Nicole Kidman.

The film’s script is about a husband and wife held for ransom, as deception and betrayal between them is slowly uncovered. It’s directed by Joel Schumacher.

The actor’s abrupt departure from the project, shooting for which was was set to take place in Louisiana in mid-August, comes after a press tour for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, from which Cage allegedly went AWOL in the Bahamas.

Cage had reportedly insisted he play the villain character in Trespass two weeks ago, after originally being cast as the estranged husband, reports

The Oscar-winner was also in talks to play the villain role in the upcoming film The Green Hornet, starring Seth Rogen, but passed after Rogen and director Michel Gondry rejected his idea to make the character Jamaican.
