Fans of Mario Kart were elated to hear news from Nintendo today (February 1) that a new mobile racing game will be available to play on smartphones within the next year. The game, titled Mario Kart Tour, is currently slated for release in “the fiscal year ending in March 2019”.
The game is set to be made available on both iOS and Android-enabled smartphones. Mario Kart Tour follows in the footsteps of the recent Nintendo mobile game Super Mario Run, which came out back in December 2016.
Nintendo have also announced that Mario will soon be the subject of a new film. The titular character will be brought to life in the new movie by Illumination studios, who were behind the Despicable Me and Minions films.
Back in September, Nintendo revealed that Mario had “retired” as a plumber.
