The OA actor Jason Isaacs has shared an emotional tribute online following the show’s recent cancellation. Check out the post below.
Co-creator and star of the surreal Netflix series Brit Marling confirmed on Monday (August 5) that a third instalment has not been commissioned. Sharing the news on social media, Marling said that she and Zal Batmanglij were “deeply sad not to finish this story” as planned.
Following an outcry from fans, Isaacs – who portrayed sinister scientist Hap – took to Twitter to write a reflective parting message.
“Farewell Prairie, who I loved, Homer, who I feared, Steve, who confused me, Scott, Rachel and Renata who I hoped would forgive me and understand in time, somewhere,” he wrote as the caption to a lengthy post.
“If you haven’t seen The OA on Netflix you should. There’ll be no new seasons, sadly, but by god we burned bright.”

In the attached message, the actor described himself as The OA‘s “number one fan” and hailed “the beauty, humanity and fearlessly creative boldness” of Marling and Batmanglij’s work.
“As someone who has been in the story-telling business for over 30 years, it’s very rare that something comes along that surprises and floors me, but with The OA, all professional filters evaporated and, as a viewer, I was utterly transported by its fully realised world.”
Issacs went on to express his frustration over how “downright fucking brilliant the other chapters would have been”. “Practice the movements and I’ll see you on the other side,” he concluded.
Back in April, Jason Issacs teased that The OA‘s third season would be “entirely different” to the previous outings.
“If you think about what happened in season two, the noir-ish tech thriller aspect of it, one thing’s for sure, they’re never gonna repeat themselves,” he said.
