Paul McCartney records song for Linda McCartney food range

Elvis Costello also set to appear in advert for vegetarian TV advert

Paul McCartney has recorded a song which will be used in a TV advert to promote late wife Linda’s vegetarian food range.

The song will be revealed when the advert airs from late-January and came as a result of studio sessions McCartney recently held with Mark Ronson. The #LoveLinda campaign will mark the first time in 15 years that the Linda McCartney brand has done TV advertising with the ad featuring an animated version of the McCartney family.

In addition to McCartney, Elvis Costello has recorded the voiceover on the advert. Speaking about fellow vegetarian Linda, Costello said: “Linda always talked well and made it seem that you wouldn’t be joining a secret weird society by being vegetarian”.

The TV adverts, which Macca teased earlier this week, have been produced by Passion Pictures, whose previous work includes projects for The Beatles and The Gorillaz. The animated advert is for the new line of chilled meat-free foods and will show a “fairy-tale world where characters including Horse Boy, Napoleon Dog and Ballerina Cat join the McCartney Family in a musical fanfare that culminates with a woodland feast.” You can see an image from the advert above.

Meanwhile, Dave Grohl this week revealed that ‘Cut Me Some Slack, the song he wrote with McCartney as part of his forthcoming documentary on the Sound City studios, took just three hours to write.
