Pearl Jam cover U2’s ‘A Sort of Homecoming’ live – watch

Eddie Vedder treats Colombia crowd to rendition of 'The Unforgettable Fire' track

Pearl Jam have covered U2’s 1984 song ‘A Sort Of Homecoming’ during a concert in Bogota, Colombia.

The Seattle band have made a habit of playing classic covers on their recent tours – Pink Floyd’s ‘Comfortably Numb’ and John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ have both featured – and they closed their South American tour on Saturday night with a rendition of one of U2’s early tracks.

Front man Eddie Vedder sang a portion of the track from the Irish band’s fourth album, ‘The Unforgettable Fire’, before launching into Pearl Jam’s ‘MFC’, from their 1998 album ‘Yield’.

This isn’t the first time the band have done the song live, they covered it at a Sydney concert back in 2006. The performance in Bogota on Friday marks the first time the band have performed the song live in nine years.

It’s been quite a year of fame for Vedder already. In May he performed live on the final week of shows for US talk show host Letterman before he retired; and he also joined The Who on stage in Chicago to perform their 1973 track ‘The Real Me’.

Finally, Pearl Jam joined Haim and Gerard Way in having their songs added to the popular video game Guitar Hero Live in September.
