Pete Doherty facing jail again after pleading guilty to cocaine possession

Libertines man will return to court for sentencing in May

Pete Doherty is facing going to prison again after pleading guilty to cocaine possession yesterday (April 8).

The Libertines man appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court to answer the charge, which came after investigations into the death of filmmaker Robin Whitehead in January 2010.

At an earlier hearing at Thames Magistrates’ Court in February, Doherty denied the charge, but has now changed his plea.

Judge David Radford granted him unconditional bail and ordered him to return for sentencing on May 20, reports BBC News.

After commenting on the singer’s “unattractive” criminal record, Judge Radford told his lawyer Peter Ratliff: “When someone constantly commits the same offence the law must be made very clear. Is your client aware he could face a sentence?”

The hearing also saw Peter ‘Wolfman‘ Wolfe plead guilty to two counts of possession of cocaine and one count of supplying cocaine to Whitehead, who died at his London flat.

Doherty‘s friend and sometime tourmate Alan Wass pleaded not guilty to possession of cocaine.
