Peter Capaldi hints that Clara will return to ‘Doctor Who’

Capaldi hinted at that his last companion could appear in future episodes

Doctor Who companion Clara Oswald could make a return to the show, Peter Capaldi has suggested.

Speaking at Awesome Con in Washington on Monday (June 7), the actor hinted that fans haven’t seen the last of Oswald.

“I’m not sure how successfully Clara was able to wipe his mind,” Capaldi told the crowd while sitting with Coleman, according to the Radio Times. “I just… I was about to tell you something I can’t tell you.”

He added: “I just shot something that Clara was still there in.”

Clara’s exit came during the series nine finale ‘Hell Bent’. After cheating death, she left earth in a stolen Tardis with Ashildr (Maisie Williams), having previously wiped the Doctor’s memories of her.

Coleman, who also appeared the event, was also asked about the fate of her character. “I think that she is probably broken down,” she replied. “Her and Ashildr haven’t yet worked out the mechanics of the Tardis and are trying to get somewhere but can’t quite work it yet.”

In April, stage actress Pearl Mackie was unveiled as the Doctor’s new companion, Bill. Mackie will make her debut in the 10th series which airs next year.
