A rather surprising choice for the next James Bond has just emerged

Would this be good?

Harry Styles is the latest name to be linked to James Bond, after the former One Direction star received the thumbs-up from a leading Bond boss.

The ‘Sign of The Times’ singer, 23, received the endorsement from Spectre editor Lee Smith after he scored plaudits for his big screen debut  as a beleagured soldier in Dunkirk last year.

“Harry could do it. If they wanted a younger Bond then why not? He has got it”, Smith told the Daily Star.

“Harry is really good and he can go all the way. He is an exceptional talent and a complete natural on camera.”

Praising Styles’ turn in Dunkirk, Hall said: “You would have thought you were dealing with a guy with many years of experience. You would never know that was his first film. If he wants to act, I cannot imagine he would not have a great future.”

Is this the next Bond?

The speculation comes after Daniel Craig previously confirmed that he will return for a fifth film in 2019 before vacating the iconic role.

Other names linked to Bond include McMafia star James Norton and Tom Hardy.

Responding to the rumours, Norton said: “It’s lovely, wonderful and complimentary to be involved in that conversation but it’s just a rumour mill and that’s as far as it goes,” BBC Newsbeat quotes Norton as saying.

“I did mention at the time that those scenes would possibly contribute to the [Bond] rumours but McMafia is its own beast.I hope Daniel Craig does five more movies and can keep the rumours on himself. I’m a big fan of his and – selfishly – I’d like him to carry on.”
