Rami Malek in “final negotiations” to become the next Bond villain

We've been expecting you, Mr Malek....

Rami Malek is reportedly being lined up to play the main villain in Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007.

Fresh from winning an Oscar for Bohemian Rhapsody last weekend, Collider reports that Malek has cleared his shooting commitments to the final season of Mr. Robot and is now in final negotiations to play Craig’s adversary in the forthcoming Bond 25.

While full details on Malek’s character are yet to emerge, Collider notes that the character may be blind, following comments made by Moroccan actor Said Taghmaoui, who was originally linked to the role when Danny Boyle was set to direct the film.

In January, Malek himself also remained coy when asked about his potential links to the role.

“We’ll have to see about that – it would be nice to play a villain, that would be another dream role for me,” Malek told ET.

“I’ve got to play so many great ones so far so who knows.”

Meanwhile, the working title of Bond 25 was revealed to be ‘Shatterhand’, after an industry publication revealed that it will start shooting in April this year.

It comes after the film’s release date was pushed back by two months earlier this month, ahead of its release in April next year.

The latest delay comes after the release was originally pushed back to February 2020, when Danny Boyle left the project over creative differences last year.He was eventually replaced by True Detective’s Cary Joji Fukunaga.
