Ridley Scott teams up with YouTube

Legendary 'Alien' director to make film in a day

Internet video channel YouTube has recruited Hollywood directors Ridley Scott and Kevin MacDonald to make the first ever user-created feature documentary, shot in one single day.

The film, entitled Life In A Day, wants YouTube users to provide footage of a moment of their lives on Saturday, July 24.

Alien and Blade Runner director Ridley Scott will oversee the project, while The Last King Of Scotland director Kevin MacDonald edits the contributions into a feature-length documentary.

Life In A Day is a time capsule that will tell future generations what it was like to be alive on the 24th of July, 2010,” said Macdonald. “It is a unique experiment in social filmmaking, and what better way to gather a limitless array of footage than to engage the world’s online community.”

To participate, YouTube users must upload their footage to YouTube.com/lifeinaday.

Those whose footage makes the final cut will be credited as co-directors.
