Rosamund Pike to play Andromeda in ‘Clash Of The Titans’ sequel

Pike will replace Alexa Davalos in 'Wrath Of The Titans'

Rosamund Pike will replace Alexa Davalos as Andromeda in Clash of the Titans sequel Wrath Of The Titans.

The film will be directed by Battle: Los Angeles director Jonathan Liebesman. The Die Another Day actress will play the love interest of Sam Worthington‘s Perseus, much like in the first film, but this time round the role of Andromeda will be more prominent.

The role was originally played by Davalos, but she was reportedly unavailable to reprise the part.

Prior to landing the role, Pike was rumoured to be on the shortlist for the lead female role in the Superman reboot, reports MTV News. That character was believed to be villain Ursa, the accomplice of General Zod.

The actress has been seen recently in An Education, Made In Dagenham and Barney’s Version. She will also be seen in Johnny English Reborn, due out in October.

Wrath Of The Titans, like the first film, will be shot in 3D. It will see the return of Worthington, Gemma Arterton and Liam Neeson, as well as new castings Edgar Ramirez (as Ares), Toby Kebbell (as King Agenor) and Bill Nighy (as Hephaestus).

Shooting on the film is due to begin next month, with a release date scheduled for March 30, 2012.
