“I put the Q in LGBTQ”: Roseanne Barr comes out while discussing use of homophobic slurs

A series of now-deleted videos were shared online over the weekend

Roseanne Barr has appeared to come out as gay during a video discussion on the use of homophobic language.

The US actor and writer, who was fired from her ABC sitcom Roseanne after making racist comments online, is said to have uploaded multiple videos to YouTube on Sunday (April 21).

During the now-deleted clips, Barr reportedly confirmed her sexuality as she spoke about the slur “fag” still being part of people’s vocabulary. E! News claims that she labelled the word “really hateful”, and that society should “get rid of it being spoken”.

“Let me just be real. I put the Q in LGBTQ,” she said elsewhere in the video. “Because I am queer as two motherfuckers.”

Barr added: “I’m queer, I’m alien, I don’t belong here with all these people. They make no sense. They are very queer and that makes me a queer I guess. I did put the Q in it. Bye.”

Speaking on using the homophobic word personally, she said: “I just can’t say the word. Well, I can when I’m in the house but I can’t say it outside of the house.”

Barr had uploaded 10 separate videos to YouTube, according to USA Today. In another post, she questioned why the derogatory word is offensive to the gay community.

“I want to talk about that word that shames gay kids. I really want to turn that word around,” she said. “Who’s using it and why?”

Barr was dropped by ABC last year for likening former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett to a cross between the Muslim Brotherhood and a Planet of the Apes actor. She later responded to the controversy, explaining that the tweet in question was a political statement rather than a racial one.

Last month, Barr also hit out at the #MeToo movement during a podcast interview.
