Ryan Gosling set to join Johnny Depp in ‘The Lone Ranger’

Cast is forming for Disney's remake of the classic western

Ryan Gosling is being lined up for the lead role in a new version of The Lone Ranger.

Johnny Depp has already been confirmed to play the hero’s sidekick Tonto in Disney‘s new version of the long-running TV series.

Now, the Blue Valentine star is apparently in talks to take the lead role in the western, according to The Wrap. Gosling‘s move from art house to blockbuster would depend on his schedule, seeing as he is already committed to playing the lead in Logan’s Run.

Disney acquired the rights to The Lone Ranger in 2007. As the Native American Tonto, Depp will be reunited with director Gore Bervinski, who helmed the first three Pirates Of The Caribbean movies. The screenplay is being written by Justin Haythe, whose previous credits include Revolutionary Road.
