Hollywood stars go head-to-head for Marvel role
Ryan Phillipe, who has appeared in the likes of Flags of Our Fathers and Gosford Park, is the latest name to be linked
with the lead role in director Joe Johnston’s forthcoming adaptation of Marvel’s The First Avenger: Captain America.
However the actor looks like having competition for the part, with G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra‘s Channing Tatum also linked.
Other names mentioned in connection with the project include the likes of Scott Porter and The Office’s John Krasinski. But now the muscle-bound Tatum is in the frame too – according to Deadline.com
One key cast member has been locked down though, with Lord Of The Rings‘ Hugo Weaving signed up to play villain Red Skull.
According to Deadline, actresses being considered to play the female lead Peggy include Keira Knightley, Alice Eve and Emily Blunt.
