‘Saw 3D’ advert banned after child’s complaint

Advert aired during break in Channel Five's 'The Gadget Show'

An advert for Saw 3D has been banned from being shown on UK TV before the watershed following a complaint by a 10-year-old British child.

The advert, which shows bloodied hands pulling a cinema-goer back towards a screen, was recently screened at 8.29pm (GMT) during a break within Channel Five‘s The Gadget Show. It was originally cleared to be shown after 7.30pm.

Now the Advertising Standards Authority has banned the advert being shown before 9pm, reports BBC News.

Upholding the child’s complaint, a spokesperson for the ASA said: “We considered it was likely to cause distress to young children who might not make a clear distinction between the scenes from the film and the scenes in the cinema.”

Last year children at a cinema screening birthday party in Massachusetts were shown a part of Saw 3D instead of animated film Megamind in a mix-up by cinema reel operators.
