Directors Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza have said they are looking forward to putting [REC]2 in front of an audience, as for them it is part of the creative process.
“A film is not completely finished until it takes shape before an audience for the first time,” they said. “This is what infuses it with its first breath of life. Beginning at that very moment, and every time someone watches it on future occasions, the film continues to develop and is transformed, through life. It is transformed into an autonomous body that can exist independently, well beyond the control of its creators.”
They added: “In the case of [REC], this phenomenon reached unusual proportions for us. Right from the start we witnessed the way our film became stronger at each screening. By watching it, each new viewer gave it greater independence, more strength and force to continue developing. We too discovered new secrets, new unknown factors in the plot, new viewpoints.
“[REC]2 comes courtesy of the audiences who infused life into its predecessor. Their enthusiasm and imagination. In some way they’re the ones who created it. It’s their fault.”
