The hit political satire is being remade for Washington DC
Political sitcom The Thick Of It is to be remade for the US.
Cable network HBO have picked up the rights for a new version of the satire, and creator Armando Iannucci is on board as executive producer.
The series will star Seinfield actor Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the newly-elected Vice President in the series to be called Veep – a nickname for the position.
According to The Hollywood Reporter the series will follow her character, the former Senator Selina Meyer who takes up her new position, to find out it is nothing like she expected.
Arrested Development star Tony Hale will star as the VP’s right hand man while Anna Chlumsky, best known for her role opposite Macaulay Culkin in 1991 movie My Girl, will play her chief of staff.
Meanwhile, Iannucci is currently working on a fourth UK series of The Thick Of It.
